Arsenal linked with shock move for Ex Liverpool star

Arsenal has been connected with a number of central midfielders ahead of the January transfer window.

In the center of the pitch, the Gunners have Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Mohamed Elneny, all of whom have recently returned from injury.

Mikel Arteta, on the other hand, appears to be looking to bolster his midfield options, according to rumours that he will be pursuing a new signing next month.

Despite the Swiss midfielder being a constant feature in virtually every manager’s side he has played under at the Emirates Stadium, Xhaka remains a hit or miss figure with Arsenal fans.

During his time at Liverpool, Wijnaldum was a box-to-box midfielder, with the Dutchman consistently towards the top of the distance-covered rankings. Not only that, but the former Newcastle United midfielder demonstrated during his time on Merseyside that he has a knack for scoring in important games.

For Arsenal fans, what Wijnaldum and Partey could bring to Arteta’s side would be a very intriguing prospect. Look at what he accomplished at Liverpool alongside another excellent defensive midfielder, Fabinho.

With Sanches worth £27 million, Oxlade-Chamberlain £16.2 million, Rabiot £27 million, and Zakaria £24.3 million, Arsenal has £94.5 million worth of talent to select from, but a loan deal for Wijnaldum in January makes perfect sense.
