Mikel Arteta has been given some suggestions by Pep Guardiola as to why Arsenal should buy Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to North London, as the team is in need of reinforcements, especially with Thomas Partey departing for the African Nations Cup, AFCON.
When asked about City re-signing Luiz, Guardiola stated, “There are a lot of people at the club working on this type of player and, at the end of the season, we will take a decision.”
“Unfortunately, a work permit prevented him from playing when he arrived, but I’m pleased to say he’s grown tremendously.”
Luiz, who averaged 2.13 tackles and 2.60 interceptions per game in the Premier League this season, will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the Gunners’ midfield.
Arsenal will be trying to finish in the top four, which should be easy if Mikel Arteta and Edu can strengthen in the January winter transfer window.
However, the manager’s plans are still unknown, since it is unclear whether he would want to acquire a midfielder or a striker, as other players are expected to leave the team.
