Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Swedish talent Yasin Ayari from Swedish club AIK, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The transfer fee for the 19-year-old midfielder is reported €6 million, with Ayari’s contract set to last until 2027.
This signing comes amid a major transfer battle for Brighton’s star midfielder Moises Caicedo, who has attracted interest from English Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea. Brighton has already rejected three offers for the 21-year-old Ecuadorian, with the most recent bid thought to be in the region of £70 million. Despite the ongoing interest from other clubs, Brighton is determined to hold onto Caicedo.
Ayari’s signing is part of Brighton’s plan to bolster their midfield, as they prepare for the potential departures of both Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister. The club has also faced the loss of Enock Mwepu, who had to retire earlier this year due to a heart condition, and Poland international Jakub Moder who has been out with a long-term ACL injury.
Ayari, who has two caps for Sweden and made 24 appearances in the Swedish top flight last season, has been highly sought after due to his promising potential as one of the most talented young midfielders in Europe. He scored four goals and had two assists in his time on the field.
Brighton has yet to officially confirm Ayari’s arrival, but Romano has stated that the deal is done and completed. The Italian tweeted, “Swedish talent Yasin Ayari has signed as a new Brighton player on a €6m deal from AIK, done and completed. Been told the contract will be valid until June 2027 — medical completed too.”
Brighton’s signing of Ayari from AIK is a strategic move as the club looks to strengthen their midfield for the future. Despite ongoing interest in Caicedo from other Premier League clubs, Brighton remains committed to keeping their star player. Ayari’s arrival provides the club with additional depth and talent in the midfield as they continue to build a competitive squad for the years to come.
