Arsenal great Michael Thomas has expressed his admiration for in-form Gunners midfielder Martin Odegaard.
The Norwegian international didn’t exactly light up the world during his loan spell at Arsenal from Real Madrid last season, but he impressed enough to win a permanent move back to the Emirates Stadium for the start of this campaign.
According to a BBC Sport report at the time, Odegaard cost Arsenal roughly £30 million, and Gunners legend Thomas believes it is an amazing bargain.
It appears to be excellent value in an overvalued market, with Thomas praising all of the 23-year-attributes old’s after being impressed with what he’s seen of him recently.
“A player of Odegaard’s quality for £30 million is an unbelievable steal in today’s market,” Thomas told CaughtOffside. “He’s demonstrating good leadership qualities in addition to his skill on the field, and he’s thriving with the other young players.”
“If he develops half of Ozil’s creative abilities, we’ll have a real, real player.” To have a chance at being a great, he must maintain his zeal and work ethic.”
Odegaard’s form appears to have persuaded Thomas that the transfer of Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho (who has been linked with Arsenal by Sport) is unnecessary, as the former midfielder has advised his former team to concentrate on bolstering two other areas instead.
“We certainly need a player in that position, and Coutinho’s qualifications and abilities are undeniable, but do we need a player in that position?” “I don’t believe so,” Thomas responded.
“We need to make a CM and a Striker a priority.” After that, perhaps a winger and a right-back who can compete with Tomiyasu.”
