Anthony Elanga had the chance to strike first but was denied by Jan Oblak, swiftly followed by an Athletico Madrid before Rodrigo De Paul fired from long range, an effort that was equally saved by David Dea Gea.

Joao Felix would have thought he put the away team ahead as he found the back of the net from a Llorente pass but was adjudged to be Offside.

Renan Lodi broke the deadlock in the 40th minute after heading home to put the away side ahead, a goal that was enough to move them to the next round.
