Chelsea are apparently preparing a £33 million deal for Frenkie De Jong, with the midfielder having struggled since his arrival to Camp Nou.
The 24-year-old midfielder joined the club for £77 million from Ajax in the summer of 2019, but has struggled to match his previous form.
Despite appearing in practically every league game since his transfer, he has yet to provide more than four assists in a single La Liga season.
And, given that he has started all but a few of those games, Barcelona supporters appear to be losing patience with De Jong.
According to El Nacional, the Blaugrana have chosen to listen to bids for the Netherlands international, who is still a regular in the starting XI.
Chelsea are reportedly considering a £33 million approach for De Jong, but Barcelona are holding out for £50 million with four and a half years left on his contract, with the midfielder a potential long-term replacement for N’Golo Kante.
Chelsea and Barcelona have yet to make official contact, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted: “Nothing confirmed by club sources about Chelsea £33m deal for Frenkie de Jong rumors.”
