Arsenal is reportedly in talks with Lyon in Ligue 1 about signing Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes.
Since the arrival of Peter Bosz, the 24-year-old midfielder has remained a fixture for his squad, appearing 22 times in all competitions and netting five assists.
Guimaraes has a contract with the Groupama Stadium club until 2024, but the Les Gones’ problems in the domestic league this season have led to speculation that he could leave.
Now, according to journalist Nicolo Schira, the Gunners are stepping up their efforts to sign him, writing on Twitter:
“Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is a target for Arsenal. Edu adores him and has begun negotiations to sign him.”
The South American sensation has yet to win a trophy in Europe, but in 2021 he won an Olympic gold medal with his country after starting all six of Lyon’s games in Tokyo.
Arsenal are also interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, as the club looks to fill the void created by Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey’s departures for the Africa Cup of Nations.
