Manchester United have announced that they won’t give up on their pursuit mission to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong this summer.
Ever since the arrival of Erik Ten Hag, Manchester United have shifted their attention to Frenkie De Jong as their main target. Frenkie De Jong left Ajax in 2019, when Erik Ten Hag was still his coach. 3 years after the former coach of Ajax Erik Ten Hag and the current player of Barcelona Frenkie De Jong want to reunite and continue the good work they did at Ajax.
Manchester United are considering Frenkie De Jong as a replacement for Paul Pogba who is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Frenkie De Jong has expressed mixed feelings with the fact that his former coach Erik Ten Hag needs him in Manchester United and he loves Barcelona and wants to stay.
Barcelona on the other hand are no longer willing to sell Frenkie De Jong this summer as they are no longer in their deep financial crisis. Barcelona have however made it clear to Manchester United and Arsenal that if they will sell Frenkie, they wouldn’t sell him any price less that €86m. Frenkie De Jong’s contract with Barcelona expires in 2025.
