Arsenal receive major boost to sign £81m-rated next Cesc Fabregas with Aubameyang January sale

Arsenal has been given a boost in their pursuit of Frenkie De Jong after it was revealed that Barcelona is interested in one of their players.

According to El Nacional, Xavi is interested in bringing Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Camp Nou to help fix the club’s striker problems.

Edu can use this to his advantage in his attempts to move De Jong the other direction, which would also solve Arsenal’s midfield problems.

Not long ago, the deal would have seemed impossible, but due to Barcelona’s financial crisis, they must let go of a few players on their books.

According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, the La Liga club has classified both de Jong and Sergino Dest, as well as goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, as available for transfer.

According to Transfermarkt, the Dutch international is worth £81 million, but with the departure of Aubameyang, this figure would almost probably be reduced.

Arsenal are in desperate need of a quality central midfielder to help Thomas Partey, who has struggled to adjust to life in the Premier League since joining the club, and forming a partnership with someone as technically gifted as De Jong would go a long way towards improving the quality of the Gunners’ midfield.

After his recent disciplinary transgression ahead of the match against Southampton, which would have undoubtedly exacerbated the striker’s relationship with Arteta, the incentive to transfer Aubameyang should be great.

It would be a win-win situation for both clubs, as Arsenal needs a midfielder and Barcelona would be able to solve their striker problems while also becoming more financially stable, but a deal would be unlikely.
